Laine McLellan imparts a unique character and life to her vision of nature. Wildlife subjects have a sense of awareness about them as they peer out of her paintings. Some even appear to smile. Her trees, rocks, earth and water have sensuous forms that pull the eye into her art. She is a self taught painter. The first time she picked up a brush in earnest was in April of 1998. Her artistic talent - dormant for most of her life - just flowed from her brush. And she's still at it daily! She left her business admin career in '96, travelled around the continent and then settled on Salt Spring Island.
Now her home is in the Cowichan Valley.
Laine, a native of Canada's Westcoast, was raised in a multitude of communities around B.C., has travelled overseas and imparts this cosmopolitan view of life into her canvas; reflecting her fascination with the colours, moods and personalities of her subjects.
