Mary was born in Ocean Falls and came to Crofton in 1963. She is mainly self taught, and has drawn horses from early childhood. Having a love of animals, she has portrayed many people's pets mainly in pastels. She can paint in many mediums but prefers oils and pastels.
She won a Crofton Community Center sponsored mural contest and then painted a mural for this building in 1992 which depicts Crofton as viewed from the water. She joined the Crofton Art Group in 1988 and has enjoyed taking lessons from many talented artists and the camaraderie of fellow artists.
