I am a self-taught acrylic painter and printmaker creating visual stories involving nature, our environment, and the roles we play in our society.
In my practice, I seldom use photographs as prompts. Instead, I paint abstractly using various mixed media such as paper collage along with the acrylic base. As I brush on the primary layers, intuition takes over and I am often surprised at both the resulting design and subject matter which I enjoy very much. Meditation plays a huge role in my art making.
Relief printing by hand is also one of favourites. I start by carving my design on linoleum and then printing it by rubbing the inked lino in relief style on paper.
I am a member of the Cowichan Lake Art Council, the Crofton Painters Group and the Printers Only Group in Duncan, B.C. I welcome your inquiries through webmail at [email protected]
